Woman injured in Urbana Township shooting

URBANA TOWNSHIP, IL (Chambana Today) — A woman was injured in an early morning shooting Thursday in Urbana Township, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to Northwood Drive around 2 a.m. for a report of a shooting with injuries. When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and arm.

Deputies and emergency crews provided medical aid at the scene before the woman was taken to a local hospital. Authorities said her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting happened outside the residence, with at least one bullet entering the home and striking the victim.

Investigators say the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the case is still under active investigation.
