Urbana road closure set for Champaign County Police Memorial ceremony

URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — Drivers in downtown Urbana should expect a temporary road closure Tuesday morning due to the 2026 Champaign County Police Memorial.

City officials say East Main Street between South Broadway Avenue and South Vine Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the ceremony, which will take place at the Champaign County Courthouse beginning at 10 a.m.

The memorial is part of National Police Week and honors fallen officers including Sergeant Thomas Dodsworth, Officer Robert Tatman, and Officer Christopher Oberheim.

A separate Champaign Police Memorial Ceremony will also be held Tuesday at West Side Park starting at 9 a.m.
