South Race Street Lane closure
South Race Street southbound lane will be closed between Indiana Avenue and West Michigan Ave beginning on Monday, October 20, at 7 a.m. until Friday, October 24, at 5 p.m. Illinois American Water contractors with be doing work along South Race Street. Access will be maintained to all properties on South Race Street during the project.

Prairie Street Road Closure (between White Street and Springfield Avenue)
In order to perform storm sewer repairs, Lanz Heating and Cooling, Inc. will be closing Prairie Street between White Street and Springfield Avenue.
Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, October 20, and is planned to be completed and reopened to traffic on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, weather permitting.
Fox Drive Temporary Road Closure (between Devonshire Drive and State Street)
For an emergency infrastructure repair project, Feutz Contractors will patch pavement on portions of Fox Drive between Devonshire Drive and State Street.
This work will require a temporary road closure starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20, until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22. The complete road closure will be just south of 1909 Fox Drive. Access to all adjacent properties will remain open with access either from the north or south for local traffic.
Bradley Avenue Lane Closure (between McKinley Avenue and Willis Avenue)
In order to perform sewer lining activities, Hoerr Construction will close the eastbound lane of Bradley Avenue between McKinley Avenue and Willis Avenue. The closure will occur on Monday, October 20, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting.
Russell Street Road Closure (between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street)
In order to perform storm sewer repairs, crews will be closing Russell Street between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street. Local traffic to private driveways and refuse pickup may access Russell Street from Springfield Avenue during this closure. Traffic on Healey Street and Springfield Avenue will remain open and unaffected by this project; however, minor traffic delays may occur at work zones.
Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, and is planned to be completed and reopened to traffic by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, weather permitting.
South Gregory Street closure
South Gregory Street will be closed at the intersection of West Oregon Street beginning on Thursday, October 16 at 7 a.m. until Thursday, October 16 at 5 p.m. The University of Illinois will be doing work at the intersection. No through traffic will be allowed at the intersection.

West California Avenue closure (between Birch Street and Cedar Street)
West California Avenue will be closed between Birch Street and Cedar Street beginning on Monday, October 13, at 7 a.m. until Friday, October 17, at 4 p.m. A&R Services will be performing sanitary sewer work. Access will be maintained to all properties along West California Avenue during the project, though no through traffic will be allowed.
Springfield Avenue Lane Closures (between Westlawn Avenue and Garfield Avenue)
In order to perform storm sewer repairs, crews will be closing the right two eastbound lanes on Springfield Avenue between Westlawn Avenue and Garfield Avenue. The eastbound Springfield Avenue traffic will be merged into the center turn lane through a short construction work zone. Westbound traffic on Springfield Avenue will remain unaffected and all intersections with Springfield Avenue will remain open.
Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, October 13, and is planned to be completed and reopened to traffic by 4 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, weather permitting.
Prospect Avenue Lane Closure (between Baytowne Drive and Marketview Drive)
In order to install water service at 2029 N. Prospect Avenue, crews will close one northbound and one southbound lane of Prospect Avenue between Baytowne Drive and Marketview Drive.
The closures will begin on Monday, October 13, and will reopen on Friday, October 24, 2025. During the closures, both northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Garden Hills Phase 3 Project (Paula Drive Full Closure through Mattis Avenue to Cynthia Drive)
Starting Thursday, October 16, Paula Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic at the intersection of Paula Drive and Mattis Avenue through to Cynthia Drive.
Initially, residents should have access to their driveways when construction equipment is not being used in the roadway. However, once the storm sewer construction begins that crosses Paula near the entrance of Fire Station 5, all access to driveways will be removed. Residents will be able to park on the street where street parking is available, but not within the construction zone. Pedestrian access to all homes will be maintained throughout construction.
This new closure is expected to take 6-8 weeks. This work is weather dependent and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. More lane and/or road closures will be announced throughout the phases of the project.
Annual Paving Project
Starting Monday, September 15, crews will begin milling and paving the following locations as part of the 2025 Annual Paving Project:
• Fifth Street from Bradley Avenue to Washington Street
• Wright Street from Columbia Avenue to Church Street
• Holts Drive from Phillips Drive to Fourth Street
• Columbia Avenue from Fourth Street to Wright Street
• Vine Street from Fourth Street to Wright Street
The work will begin with milling on Monday, September 15. One lane in each direction will be open to through traffic; however, motorists are urged to take alternate routes to avoid delays. Work at these locations is scheduled to be complete by Friday, October 3.
