Street light rehabilitation to shut down lanes of Cunningham Avenue through May

URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — As announced on Tuesday by the City of Urbana, partial closures of Cunningham Avenue will be taking place as part of the city’s street light rehabilitation along the avenue.

Intermittent lane closures along Cunningham Avenue (US 45) between East University Avenue and North Kenyon Road can be expected beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6 through May 2026. The map below provides more detailed location.

Champaign Signal & Lighting (Evergreen Roadways) will be performing street light improvements including underground conduit installation and replacement of luminaires, light poles, and lighting controllers. Through traffic will be maintained at all times during the course of construction.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through the area and all construction areas.
