CENTRAL Ill. (Chambana Today) — Power has been restored to nearly all homes across Central Illinois after severe storms swept through the region Sunday evening, knocking out electricity to more than 3,000 residents. As of Monday morning, only two homes remain without power, according to utility companies.
In Rochester, around 1,823 Ameren Illinois customers lost service beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. Crews worked through the night to identify the cause and restore power.
Other significant outages were reported in Macon County, where 93 customers were affected, and in Jacksonville, where 275 homes near Illinois College went dark around 8:30 p.m. Power was restored to both areas by early Monday.
In Springfield, City Water, Light and Power (CWLP) responded to multiple outages throughout the city. The largest affected over 800 customers tied to a circuit from the Cornell substation, running south of S. Grand Avenue between Whittier and Douglas Streets.
CWLP confirmed that service has been restored to all but two customers as of Monday morning. Residents can continue to track the status of local outages through CWLP‘s online outage maps.
