PONTIAC, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Illinois State Police announced the results of Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) surveillance conducted at businesses in McLean County during the month of January.

According to ISP Zone 5 Commander Lt. Thomas Jennings, troopers conducted surveillance at 30 establishments to determine compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors. The enforcement effort is designed to reduce underage drinking and prevent impaired driving crashes and fatalities.

One business was found to be noncompliant during the operation. Illinois State Police reported that Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh, located at 1405 North Veterans Parkway in Bloomington, was cited for a violation associated with the sale of alcohol to a minor.

State police emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Illinois State Police also commended the businesses and employees who complied with the law and did not sell alcohol to minors during the enforcement effort. The ACE project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
