Sidewalk construction to reduce southbound Prospect avenue traffic to one lane next week

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Construction on a sidewalk will shut down a southbound lane of Prospect Avenue for most of next week.

The sidewalk removal and replacement, near 2029 North Prospect Avenue, will be done by Mid Illinois Concrete, and it will close one southbound lane on Prospect from Baytowne Drive to Marketview Drive. A map of the area can be seen below.

The closure will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. starting Monday, March 9, and ending Saturday, March 14, 2026, weather permitting. During the closure, southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in the area.
