SHOOTING UPDATE: 52-year-old man fatally shot in Urbana early Friday morning

URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A 52-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Urbana early Friday morning.

Urbana police were called to the 1200 block of Ellis Drive at 1:48 a.m. after reports of a shooting. Officers found the victim, Benancio Crowley of Champaign, who was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead, according to the Champaign County Coroner.

Police reported that the shooter was still in the area when officers arrived. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Urbana Police at 217-384-2320 or Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477.
