Shooting on Stratford Drive leaves man in critical condition

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Champaign Police are investigating a shooting that left a 26-year-old man in critical condition following a violent incident on Stratford Drive late on February 18. Officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 1000 block of Stratford Drive at 10:53 p.m. When they arrived, they were diverted to a location on the 1600 block of Sangamon Drive, where they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was immediately treated by officers and the Champaign Fire Department before being transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police believe the shooting occurred in the 900 block of Stratford Drive, though the motive behind the attack is still unclear.

Officers are actively canvassing the area, speaking with witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage for clues. Investigators urge anyone with relevant information to contact the Champaign Police at 217-351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
