CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Harm, Healing, Hope (H3) is holding monthly “Shine the Block” events, which look to serve essential needs for families, with a focus on Country Brook Apartments. The events align with H3’s mission to reduce harm, promote healing ,and build hope through community support.

H3 is a coalition in Champaign County dedicated to ending community violence. They work to address the effects of violence, poverty, and injustice by providing a grassroots-driven system of care focused on wellbeing and connection. Shine the Block reflects H3’s mission by offering meals, essential resources, and educational workshops that build empowerment, support stability, and strengthen community bonds.

“Shine the Block” addresses growing challenges such as rising food costs, while connecting families with local resources. Events are held on the second Friday of each month, with plans to continue through the spring. The next event is on Friday, December 12th, in collaboration with Y on the Fly and other local organizations.

Each event includes a provided meal, food and/or resources for families to take home, and a short educational component like economic security workshops.

H3 is searching for volunteers for events, and is also receiving monetary donations to help pay for the cost of meals

Those interested in volunteering and providing materials should reach out to H3 through their website.
