Second firefighter in Champaign stabbing released from hospital

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The second firefighter injured in a stabbing Thursday night has been released from the hospital, according to a statement from the Champaign Fire Department.

Lt. Courtney Moravek was discharged late Sunday morning, spokesperson Randy Smith confirmed. The other firefighter and a paramedic who were also injured in the incident had been released earlier, as announced by Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen on Friday.

The suspect, 23-year-old Trevor Lewis of Champaign, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon on charges of attempted first degree murder.
