Route 45 reopens after morning crash near Pesotum

PESOTUM, Ill. (Chambana Today) — U.S. Route 45 is back open after a Friday morning crash shut down the highway for more than an hour just north of the Champaign–Douglas County line.

Illinois State Police say the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. near County Road 100N and involved two vehicles. Injuries were reported, and at least one person was taken to a hospital. Officials have not released details on the severity of the injuries.

Both lanes of Route 45 were closed to traffic while crews responded to the scene and cleared debris. The road reopened at 8:08 a.m.

State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
