Quick response contained electrical fire on Williamsburg Drive

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 1300 block of Williamsburg Drive on Monday, November 10, at 10:01 p.m.

An occupant, alerted by a smoke alarm, reported a fire outside the single-story home. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames on the exterior of the structure beginning to extend into the attic. Crews quickly extinguished the small fire using a single hose line, preventing further damage.

The fire was determined to be accidental in nature and caused by an electrical issue. No injuries to occupants or firefighters were reported.
