CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Promise Healthcare celebrated the opening of Promise Healthcare–Kenyon, its new clinic located on the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (C-UPHD) campus, with an open house and ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, November 12.

The event, held at 201 W. Kenyon Road in Champaign, welcomed providers, community partners, patients, media, and local leaders for tours of the new facility, and opportunities to meet care teams.

“Through our partnership with the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, we have united our strengths to better serve the community,” said Jennifer Henry, CEO of Promise Healthcare. “Together, we’ve created a trusted, central location where families can access comprehensive care, reduce barriers, and improve overall health and well-being.”

James Hamilton, Senior Director of Integrated Care for Promise Healthcare, said the new facility makes healthcare easier to navigate. “By bringing primary, women’s health, prenatal, behavioral counseling, and telehealth psychiatric services under one roof, we’ve made it simpler for patients to get the right care at the right place,” Hamilton said.

The Kenyon site offers a range of integrated services, including primary medical care, women’s and prenatal health, behavioral counseling, and tele-psychiatry. The clinic also connects patients directly to C-UPHD programs such as WIC, donor milk services, home visits, breastfeeding support, and doula care. Staff help patients apply for Medicaid, Family Planning, and SNAP benefits, while dental services and a new 340B pharmacy at Promise’s Frances Nelson location—less than a mile away—expand wrap-around care options.

Henry said. “Patients can come to one place, get many of their needs met, and when there are services we don’t provide, we connect them directly to our partners at C-UPHD. It’s a great collaboration and a great way for community partners to come together for the patients.”

Julie Pryde, Administrator at C-UPHD, said the new clinic strengthens local health infrastructure. “Aligned with our mission of public health, this new clinic expands our capacity to serve families and coordinates services in a way that addresses root causes of health disparities,” Pryde said.

State Senator Paul Faraci (D-Champaign) praised the partnership for improving community health access. “Comprehensive, coordinated care is essential for thriving communities,” he said. “Promise Healthcare and C-UPHD have created a model that makes that possible.”

State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Mahomet) agreed, emphasizing the impact of collaboration. “This partnership is key to ensuring that families—especially those in underserved areas—have timely access to the care they deserve.”

The event concluded with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and remarks from community leaders, marking a new chapter in local health access and coordination.
