Parkland to host free career exploration workshop for electrical, HVAC, industrial careers

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Parkland College is set to host a free career exploration workshop featuring its Electrical Power; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC); and Industrial Technology programs for area high school and home school students.

The workshop will be held on Friday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room M131 on Parkland’s main campus, and will be led by Career and Technical Education instructors working in these industries.

The workshop will be held on Friday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room M131 on Parkland’s main campus. Led by Parkland Career and Technical Education instructors working in these industries, students will experience hands-on learning opportunities, including:

  • constructing, testing, and troubleshooting general lighting circuits in Parkland’s Residential Wiring Lab
  • learning HVAC maintenance and fabrication in Parkland’s HVAC Lab
  • participating in repairing mechanical systems in Parkland’s Manufacturing Lab

This workshop requires active student participation. A safety release is required for each student. The completed form should be ready to turn in on the day of the event. Lunch will be provided. Seating is limited.
