One man killed, another arrested after shooting outside Danville bar

DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday outside Scooters Bar on the city’s east side. Officers were dispatched to the bar at 1114 E. Voorhees Street around 1:26 a.m. after multiple reports of shots fired, and were informed while en route that a victim remained at the scene.

When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Just minutes later, at about 1:34 a.m., police were notified that a second man had arrived at the OSF Emergency Room with a gunshot wound. His injury was determined to be non-life-threatening. After receiving treatment, the man was taken to the Public Safety Building and booked on preliminary charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released additional details about what led to the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Danville Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS.
