One dead in two-vehicle crash on I-74 in Piatt County

MANSFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – A fatal crash on Interstate 74 in Piatt County left one person dead this morning, prompting an ongoing investigation by multiple agencies.

The two-vehicle collision occurred near milepost 167 on the westbound side of I-74, close to Mansfield. Emergency personnel responded to the scene where one individual was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities from the Illinois State Police, Piatt County Sheriff’s Department, and the Piatt County Coroner’s Office are jointly investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
