CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — A Salon 105 employee battling breast cancer will be the focus of a community fundraiser this weekend in Mahomet.

Salon 105 is hosting a parking lot party Saturday to raise money for Karley, a 27-year-old stylist and co-worker described by organizers as a close friend who is currently facing breast cancer for the second time in two years.

The event will feature shopping from local vendors, food and drinks, live music, bounce houses, face-painting, raffles and family-friendly activities aimed at bringing the community together while helping ease the financial burden of treatment.

Several participating businesses also plan to donate proceeds directly to Karley. Organizers said 20 percent of service sales during the event will go toward her expenses, while some vendors will donate 100 percent of cash-and-carry product sales.

Event organizers said the fundraiser is about more than finances. “Come out, support small businesses, and most importantly, show Karley she isn’t fighting this alone,” organizers said in a social media post promoting the event.

The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday at Salon 105 in Mahomet.
