Kenwood families celebrate the start to the school year with Back-to-School Bash & Carnival

CHAMPAIGN, Ill (Chambana Today) — Last Friday, Kenwood Elementary in Champaign kicked off the 2025–26 school year with a  Back-to-School Bash and Carnival. The event welcomed new and returning families with laughter and lots of school spirit.

The event was a huge success, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of students, parents, and staff. Children enjoyed carnival games, inflatables, and pizza, while families had the chance to reconnect with teachers, meet new faces, and get excited about the year ahead.

A special thank you went out to Meadowbrook Church, whose volunteers played a vital role in making the evening a success by helping run activities and serve food. The strong sense of community and support was on full display, setting a positive tone for the new school year.

What’s Next: First Week of School Schedule

Kenwood students are back, starting Tuesday, August 12! Here’s a quick reminder of the staggered start schedule for the week:

  • Tuesday, August 12 – First day of school for 1st–5th grade students. Kindergarten parent conferences.
  • Wednesday, August 13 – First day for half of Kindergarten students.
  • Thursday, August 14 – First day for the other half of Kindergarten students.
  • Friday, August 15 – All students in attendance.
