Illinois State Fair kicks off 100-day countdown with celebration at fairgrounds

SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) — The Illinois State Fair is celebrating 100 days until opening day with a special kickoff event on Tuesday, May 5, at the Reisch Pavilion on the fairgrounds.

The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is free to attend, with free parking available on-site.

Food vendors featured include:
• Mickey’s Massive Burritos
• On Point Concessions (tornado potatoes and shakeups)
• Taft’s Mr. Ribeye
• Vose’s Korndog
• Zakopane Street Food
• Scoop Du Jour

Attendees can also purchase fair passes and admission booklets during the event and enter to win one of five State Fair prize packages.

The Illinois State Fair will run August 13–23 in Springfield, continuing its long-standing tradition as one of the state’s largest summer events.
