CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Illinois Fighting Illini women’s basketball will be without one of their top contributors for the rest of the season.

Redshirt sophomore Gretchen Dolan suffered a torn meniscus in her right knee and underwent surgery Monday, Feb. 23. The Buffalo, New York, native will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Dolan appeared in 18 games this season, starting the first 17. She averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 29.2 minutes per game. She shot 39.4% from the field and 88.7% from the free throw line, while recording 13 double-digit scoring performances, including the first two 20-point games of her career.

Dolan previously earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors during the 2023-24 season, which ended with a WBIT championship. Over her collegiate career, Dolan has appeared in 57 games with 18 starts, averaging 8.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest.
