CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Illini Media Group is holding its annual April Foods Day on April 1 to raise $15,000 for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. The live broadcast runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Smith Burger Company in The Yard on Broadway in Urbana.

The event, organized with 217 Inc Complete Home Services and Hayley Siefert and The Siefert Team at Keller Williams Realty, The Real Estate Center of Illinois, encourages the community to donate and help neighbors in need. Each dollar raised provides three meals for people experiencing food insecurity.

The Eastern Illinois Foodbank serves 21 counties, distributing food through pantries, school programs, and its Foodmobile. Last year alone, the organization provided over 11 million meals and more than 3 million pounds of produce. With child food insecurity rising nearly 40% since 2019, organizers say contributions are critical to supporting families, especially during the summer months when school programs are not available.

The event is free and open to the public, and donations can also be made online before or during the broadcast.
