CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Illinois football will close out its regular season under the lights on Saturday, Nov. 29, when the Fighting Illini host Northwestern at Gies Memorial Stadium. The 6:30 p.m. kickoff on FOX marks the first November night game in the venue’s history, adding extra significance to an evening that also celebrates Senior Night.

Illinois (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten) enters the rivalry matchup looking to secure the Land of Lincoln trophy for the second consecutive year. The Illini lead the all-time series 58-55-5 and defeated the Wildcats 38-28 last season at Wrigley Field, fueled by three Aidan Laughery rushing touchdowns and four defensive takeaways.

Quarterback Luke Altmyer continues to pace the Illinois offense, posting national top-25 marks in completion percentage (.681), passing efficiency (157.73), and passing touchdowns (21). On the defensive side, standout pass rusher Gabe Jacas made history last week, moving into second place on the Illini’s all-time sacks list with 25.0. Only program legend Simeon Rice, with 44.5 sacks from 1992–95, remains ahead of him.

Northwestern (6-5, 4-4 Big Ten) arrives with bowl eligibility secured and aims to even its season record while reclaiming the rivalry trophy.
