CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Hundreds of the state’s top high school wrestlers will converge on Champaign-Urbana this week for the IHSA Wrestling Individual State Championships at the State Farm Center.

The three-day tournament, hosted at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, runs Feb. 19–21 and will feature 672 wrestlers from 250 high schools competing across 14 weight classes in three divisions.

Organizers say the event is not only a highlight of the high school wrestling season but also a significant economic driver for the community.

“Since 1967, the IHSA State Wrestling Finals have brought significant economic impact to our community while creating tremendous energy for our local businesses,” said Jayne DeLuce, president and CEO of Experience Champaign-Urbana.

An estimated 36,000 spectators are expected to attend, generating approximately $5.5 million in economic impact through hotel stays, restaurant visits and shopping at local businesses. Wrestlers compete multiple times throughout the weekend, leading to extended stays for athletes and their families.

Matches begin at 11 a.m. Thursday and continue through Saturday evening. Friday and Saturday sessions start at 9 a.m.

Tickets range from $12 to $15 per session, with all-session passes available for $60 to $70 through the Illinois Ticket Office. Experience Champaign-Urbana representatives will greet visitors at the West Grand Entrance, offering information on local dining, attractions and activities.
