CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Flyover Film Studios and the Champaign County Film Office are holding a new event for the Champaign County region. Filmmaking 4 x 4, held November 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Flyover Lab in Rantoul, will provide the community an inside look into the camera, lighting, art, and production departments.

Flyover Film Studios is partnering with Compass Casting’s education branch, Forge Film Acting, to provide skilled intensives for future crew and cast to get the highlights of film school in one day from working professionals.

“We want to give folks an opportunity to learn the highlights of the industry, without a full-time commitment,” says Sarah Sharp, Flyover co-founder and producer, who will be one of the featured guests of the event.

Attendees will join multiple working film professionals who will be walked through a speed-dating-style circuit of what it takes to join the Camera, Lighting, Art, and Production Departments.

“The event will provide that opening of the door to make those connections between existing skills and the current needs for the film industry in Central Illinois,” Flyover co-founder and cinematographer Robert Patrick Stern said.

Attendees will join with multiple working film professionals who will walk you through a speed-dating-style circuit of what it takes to join the Camera, Lighting, Art, and Production Departments.

Sarah Cayce, owner of Forge Film Acting and Compass Casting, is very excited to offer an event this unique to the community. “When I started building a talent pool in Central Illinois, I expected to find a few great faces and some folks interested in acting. I had no idea of the talent level —from actors to musicians, carpenters to chefs, seamstresses to CDL drivers—there are so many people who have become curious about the industry of industries that film creates. I’m excited to bring professional-grade filmmaking training to anyone interested in a warp-speed course in the foundational pillars of filmmaking.”

Registration is required, and early bird ticket sales end on November 8th. Visit Filmmaking 4×4 | Flyover Film Studios at https://www.flyoverfilmstudios.com/event-details/filmmaking-4×4 today to book your spot.

Those who are interested in the industry but can’t make the event should subscribe to the Flyover Event page for all the upcoming events and intensives coming up this winter, including Flyover’s first Swappin’ Around the Christmas Tree on December 6th from Noon to 6:00 p.m. and the Forge’s Audition for Film and TV class series starting December 1.
