Fire damages single-family home on Garwood Street Thursday morning

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 70 block of Garwood Street Thursday morning, quickly bringing the blaze under control.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:30 a.m. after a passerby reported the fire. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story home and deployed multiple hose lines to contain the blaze to the structure of origin. The occupant was not home at the time.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. No firefighter injuries were reported.
