CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — What happens inside a museum after the doors close? At the Virginia Theatre next month, the answer unfolds in movement, music and imagination.

The Champaign Park District’s Dance Arts Conservatory will present The Enchanted Museum: The Ballet on April 10 and 11, a performance that transforms well-known works of art into live dance.

The production invites audiences into a world where paintings and sculptures “come alive,” with dancers interpreting pieces such as Starry Night and Medusa through choreography. The concept blends visual art with storytelling, offering a creative way for audiences to experience familiar works from a new perspective.

“This performance is about bringing art off the canvas and onto the stage,” organizers said. “It allows dancers to embody the emotion and movement that might be imagined within each piece.”

In addition to the main performance, audiences can attend a pre-performance showcase highlighting the dancers and their training. The showcase is designed to give attendees a deeper appreciation for the work and dedication behind the production.

The Dance Arts Conservatory, a program of the Champaign Park District, features local dancers of varying ages and experience levels, making the performance both a community event and a professional-style production.

Performances will take place at the historic Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign. Tickets are available online at the theatre’s website.

With its mix of classical inspiration and creative interpretation, The Enchanted Museum offers a unique evening where art, movement and imagination meet.
