PAXTON, IL (Chambana Today) — A Paxton-Buckley-Loda school district employee has resigned following a criminal investigation by authorities in Ford County.

District officials say Paul Meuser, a driver’s education teacher, was placed on administrative leave on March 8, after the district was notified of an investigation involving alleged inappropriate communications with a minor.

School leaders said they did not initially comment publicly in order to protect the integrity of the investigation but took immediate action upon learning of the situation.

Following his placement on leave, Meuser submitted his resignation. The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Board of Education accepted that resignation during its regular meeting on March 11.

District officials say they have since learned that Muser has been arrested and is facing serious charges, including allegations related to attempted sexual misconduct with a minor.

In a message to families, the district acknowledged that information had been circulating in the community and said it wanted to communicate directly while continuing to cooperate with law enforcement. School leaders emphasized their commitment to student safety and said they will continue working with Ford County authorities as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Ford County Sheriff’s Department at 217-373-2324.
