DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — Nine Performers, four head-to-head battle rounds, where four performers will advance to the Solo rounds. Then Four past champions from previous years will return and defend their legacy………Who will win this year, a newcomer or will a past winner take home the honor and the crown?

The only way to know is to head over to the Fischer Theatre on March 6th at 6 p.m. for the First Friday’s Danville’s Got Talent, Battle of the Best, where competitors will take over the Historic Theatre. Performers will team up for exciting duets before stepping into the spotlight for their solo acts.

Auditions were held in mid-January with a panel of judges who were tasked with narrowing down the pool of performers, said Lindsey Franz, Community Relations Coordinator, with the City of Danville.

This year’s competition begins with an all-new twist, Battle Rounds. The nine performers will be paired into 4 battle groups, where they’ll go face to face in the first half of the show, giving it everything they’ve got to prove they deserve to move forward. Pressure is on as the judges make their decisions LIVE, advancing only 4 performers to the solo rounds.

After intermission, the stakes get even higher. The Solo Rounds will feature not only the winners of the Battle Rounds, but also 4 returning champions from past Danville’s Got Talent shows, stepping back into the spotlight to defend their titles. It’s a showdown between fresh new faces and proven winners! New talent vs. seasoned champions, Franz said.

“There is so much incredible talent in Danville and it’s one of my favorite things to see,” said Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. “What’s so great about this, is seeing people of all ages, races and talents come together and just shine. It’s one of my absolute favorite things to see in Danville.”

Williams also said this event, in it’s fifth year is something very unique, where performers battle things out to be the best.

Can the newcomers outshine the best of the best from years past, or will the returning winners prove why they’ve earned their crown?

Tickets are $5 for admission plus a $2 processing fee. Tickets can be obtained by going to the website, www.firstfridaysdanville.com. For more info or questions, contact Lindsey Franz, Community Relations Coordinator at lfranz@cityofdanville.org.
