DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The city of Danville is set to welcome over 600 athletes and fans next month as it hosts the 2025 USA Ultimate Sectional Championships, a major tournament marking the kickoff to the national postseason for club-level ultimate frisbee.

Scheduled for September 6–7, the event will take place at the Danville Area Soccer Complex, which offers premier facilities to accommodate elite-level competition. The Sectionals are the first step toward the USA Ultimate Regional and National Championships, showcasing top talent from across the region.

This announcement is a milestone for Danville and a boost for its growing sports tourism scene. “Hosting the USA Ultimate Sectionals is a great honor for Danville,” said Patrick Halloran, Director of Sports for the Danville Area Soccer Association. “We look forward to welcoming athletes and fans to our city and showing them all that Danville has to offer.”

Officials with Illinois Ultimate echoed that excitement. “Illinois Ultimate is excited to be working with Danville to help spread the sport of ultimate across the state,” said Jacob Nuxoll, Director of Operations. “We’re looking forward to a successful event and a strong partnership in the years to come.”

The tournament is expected to bring a significant economic impact to the area, as well as raise the profile of ultimate frisbee, one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports.
