DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Danville Police Department says a reported phone threat of a possible school shooting earlier this week has been determined not credible.

Police responded to the threat on November 3 and immediately launched an investigation with the Danville School District. Investigators later found that the call originated from outside of Danville and posed no danger to local schools, students, or staff.

Deputy Chief Doug Miller said officers stayed in close contact with school officials while safety measures were implemented out of an abundance of caution. Classes have since resumed as normal.

Police continue to investigate the source of the call and are asking anyone with information to contact the Danville Police Department at (217) 431-2250 or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS.
