CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — A fundraising campaign to renovate kitchens and dining spaces at the residential treatment center operated by Cunningham Children’s Home is nearing its goal, with organizers reporting that more than 87% of the needed funds have been raised.
According to Cunningham, supporters have contributed $56,536 toward a $65,000 fundraising goal for the organization’s HOPE Improvement project. The campaign needs an additional $8,464 to reach its target by June 9.
The project will focus on updating kitchen and dining areas in the facility’s Jedi and Cornerstone residential spaces. Planned improvements include the removal of worn materials, installation of new durable countertops and stainless-steel sinks, updated flooring, a new backsplash and fresh paint.
Organization leaders said the renovations are intended to improve spaces where residents share meals, build relationships with staff and learn life skills that support independence.
Cunningham officials described the upgrades as investments in the environment that young people in residential treatment call home, noting that dining areas serve as important gathering spaces for conversations, celebrations and daily routines.
The organization thanked donors who have already contributed and encouraged additional community support to help complete the project before the June 9 deadline.
