URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking public assistance regarding a retail theft that occurred late last month.

On January 29, at around 12:25, a retail theft occurred at Blain’s Farm & Fleet, located at 2701 North Cunningham Avenue in Urbana. The suspect entered the store and proceeded to the tool department, where he removed a UPC label from a multi-tool. He walked down the aisle and removed a spider wrap security device from a boxed tool on the shelf. The suspect then applied the UPC label from the multitool to the boxed tool and placed the item in his shopping cart with the spider wrap still hanging from the box.

The suspect remained in the store for a short time before proceeding to self-checkout, where he scanned the incorrect UPC label and paid $129.71 for a tool valued at $999.99. He then exited the store, entered a vehicle, and left the property. He can be pictured below.

The suspect was described as a white male in his mid to upper 30s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 250 pounds, with a full beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a camouflage coat, blue jeans, brown boots, and a gray and yellow hat. The vehicle involved was described as a black sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu.

Those with information are encouraged to submit a tip through the Champaign County Crime Stoppers website, the P3 Tips app, or through the hotline at 217-373-8477.
