Crime Stoppers seeks public’s help in Champaign shooting investigation

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Champaign County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance as investigators continue searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that left a Champaign man seriously injured last month.

The shooting happened around 2:36 a.m. on May 6 near Redwood Drive and Bradley Avenue. Champaign police responded to reports of a shooting with injuries and found a 27-year-old man suffering from what authorities described as potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital, where he was stabilized. According to Crime Stoppers, he is still recovering from his injuries.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an encounter between the victim and another individual in the 1000 block of West Beardsley Avenue. Police said the victim fled the area on foot following the shooting and was later located by officers in the 1200 block of Redwood Drive.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and are attempting to identify the second person involved in the confrontation. The suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build who was wearing a mask and all-black clothing at the time of the incident.
