CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Park District is calling on the community to help local eighth graders celebrate the end of middle school with a clothing donation drive aimed at supporting graduation events.

The district is collecting new or gently worn adult-sized dress clothing for students preparing to mark the transition to high school. Officials say the effort is intended to ensure all graduates have access to appropriate attire for the occasion.

Donations are being accepted now through May 8 at several Champaign Park District locations, including the Douglass Community Center, Douglass Branch Library, Leonhard Recreation Center, Martens Center, and Springer Cultural Center. Drop-offs can be made during weekday afternoon hours.

Students who wish to receive items will be able to pick them up on May 15 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Douglass Community Center.

Park district officials say the program is a community-wide effort to support students as they complete middle school and prepare for the next step in their education.
