Champaign Fire Department extinguishes fire in Champaign that displaces one resident

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-home family on Saturday morning.

The fire crews arrived at the house, located in the 300 block of South Fair Street in Champaign, at around 10:43 a.m., and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Once on the scene, firefighters reported moderate smoke coming from the residence, and deployed a single hose line to extinguish the fire, which began in a bedroom.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, and there were no injuries to firefighters or occupants reported. One resident will be displaced as a result of the fire.
