Best-selling author Shelby Van Pelt to visit Champaign Public Library

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Readers will have the chance to meet Shelby Van Pelt, author of the New York Times bestseller Remarkably Bright Creatures, during a special event at the Champaign Public Library on Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m.

The event, part of the library’s Great Authors at the Library series, will be held at the Main Library, 200 W. Green Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and both library locations will close early at 5 p.m. to prepare for the evening.

Van Pelt’s debut novel has captivated readers nationwide with its heartwarming story and unforgettable characters—including an octopus narrator. Her visit offers fans a unique opportunity to hear about her writing journey and creative process firsthand.

The event is free and open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. A book signing will follow the author talk.
