Arrest made following Wednesday morning shooting in Urbana that left one hospitalized

URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — On Wednesday morning, Urbana Police responded after multiple calls reporting a shooting, and made an arrest in the aftermath.

Police arrived on scene at around 8:50 a.m. to the 1600 block of East Colorado Avenue, where they found a 54-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim was responsive and able to provide officers with information regarding the incident. The victim was soon after transported to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition is not being released at this time.

Statements from the victim and witnesses led the officers to develop a suspect description, including details of the vehicle used to flee the scene. Shortly after, officers located the vehicle a short distance from the location of the original incident.

Officers took a 48-year-old male, identified as John Webb, into custody without incident. Webb is being held on a preliminary charge of attempted murder, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Urbana Police Department values its strong relationship with the community and appreciates the cooperation of citizens whose timely information and assistance contributed to the swift identification and arrest of the suspect.
