For the first time since 1993, United Airlines will have flights arriving and departing from Willard Airport.
The airline is holding a press conference at 11 am Monday to possibly announce the addition.
Flights between Chicago and Champaign are listed to start on June 8th at United.com. The flights will be on regional Embraer RJ145 jets, seating 50 passengers, and operated by United Express.
Daily flights to and from Chicago will start this summer with 3 round trips daily. Flights to Chicago will depart at 5:45 am, 1:45 pm, and 5:45 pm.
United Airlines joins American Airlines as the only commercial airlines operating out of the airport. American currently operates flights to Chicago O’Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Delta airlines was the last major airline to operate alongside American at Willard. That airline dropped its routes in August of 2010.
