State Rep. Ammons decides not to run for US house

State Representative Carol Ammons (D-Urbana) has decided not to run for the 13th Illinois Congressional Seat in the upcoming 2018 election.

Ammons launched an exploratory series of “listening sessions” across the district which includes Champaign-Urbana, Bloomington, Decatur, parts of Springfield, and Edwardsville.

In a facebook post she thanked those who supported her, and said she will continue to serve her district in Springfield:

With Ammons out of the race that leaves David Gill, Benjamin Webb, Betsy Londrigan, and Eric Jones on the democratic side of the ticket. Three time incumbent Rodney Davis is running unopposed on the republican ticket.

Ammons has served in the Illinois House since 2014. She previously served on the Champaign County Board, and the Urbana City Council.
