A severe thunderstorm that blew through Champaign damaged homes, downed trees, and cut off power to a neighborhood in Southwest Champaign.

The Copper Ridge subdivision, near the corner of Windsor and Staley roads, appeared to have the most damage including some houses being damaged.

Windsor road west of Staley is closed to traffic after the storm due to damage to both the houses in the neighborhood and power poles in the area.

Ameren reports that over 4,000 people are without power in Champaign county.

Damage also occurred in several other areas around our listening area. Got something to share? Email news@illinradio.com.
