Restaurant News – Pandamonium, Pork, and Pucks.

After a long wait, Pandamonium Doughnuts has opened their physical location in South Champaign. The store is at 1105 Windsor Road, next to Sunsinger. The store is still in the soft opening phase, so hours may vary. Their popular food truck will still be out and about from time to time, including at their regular Market at the Square spot.

One local chef is bringing some divine swine to the streets of CU. Baldarotta’s Porketta & Sicilian Sausage will launch a catering service this spring, with a food truck to follow. The catering company specializes in italian sandwiches from the mind of local chef Jordan Baldarotta. They’ll be holding a pop-up event at Sipyard in Urbana on October 22nd.

Dublin O’Neils has reopened under new ownership after closing for a few days to make repairs. In addition to new ownership, the leadership team of Big Grove Tavern; GM Scott McIntosh, Chef Du Cuisine Raul Parada and Beverage Manager Matt Musick.  Per a press release from the new management team:

New GM Scott McIntosh stated the management group’s expectations: “We want a place you can go day or night and feel appreciated.  We are placing a priority on simple excellence.  A good pub is a place you plan to visit briefly, but the combination of good service, atmosphere, people, and quality food and beverage make you want to stay longer and visit again.”

The pub will also be an official Chicago Blackhawks bar for the upcoming hockey season. Building owner One Main Development is looking for a business to fill the space vacated by former sister-restaurant  301 Mongolia, which closed on October 1st.

Campustown Azzip Pizza has closed its doors, it’s last day was Saturday.

Downtown restaurant Watson’s Shack and Rail is now open for lunch Tuesday-Saturday. They had previously opened on Fridays for lunch, but are now extending the hours to include lunch service on every day except Monday, when the restaurant is closed.
