Restaurant News: Freddy’s Opens and Pizza Near Parkland

No tricks in today’s Restaurant News feature, just treats!

  • Freddy’s Custard and Steakburgers will officially open today at their location at 420 Town Center Blvd. near Hobby Lobby. The chain, which has locations in Mattoon and Springfield, features steakburgers, vienna beef hot dogs, shoestring fries and frozen custard.
  • A new spot on Champaign’s northwest side looks to be opening sometime in the near future. A sign for Rafters Draft & Dough is up outside the old Bradley’s nightclub building at 1906 W. Bradley Ave. Not much information is available about the business yet, but their Facebook page lists it as a pizzeria and craft beer bar. The restaurant has a hiring website at raftersjobs.com.
  • Downtown restaurant Miga has added Sushi. In addition to a new menu, the restaurant added veteran Sushi chef James Kim to run its new sushi menu. The restaurant is located on the Church st. side of the building at 301 N. Neil st.
  • As noted in the News-Gazette downtown coffee and ice cream shop Snow Meets Coffee has closed. The shop, between Big Grove Tavern and Merry Ann’s diner opened two years earlier.
