The Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs the Powerball and Mega Millions games, says that due to the lack of a budget in the State of Illinois, they are dropping the state lottery from the game.

State lottery spokesman Jason Schaumburg told the Chicago Sun-Times:

“…another example of why the General Assembly needs to deliver a balanced budget to the governor.”

According to the Sun-Times story, The Illinois Lottery brought in over $300 million with the two games in 2016, but it is unclear how much money the State actually made off of those games.

The games will stop being sold in Illinois on July 1st.
