Police investigate gunfire at Marketplace Mall

Champaign Police say that an argument inside Marketplace Mall led to shots being fired late Monday evening.

Police were called at around 9:06 pm after they received a call about shots fired.

They say an argument between two parties took place inside, which led to one round being fired. Both parties to the argument left the mall before police arrived.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police ask anyone who has any information ,or was present at the time of the shooting, to call the Champaign Police Investigations Division at 217-351-4545 or Crimestoppers at 217-373-TIPS.

Champaign Police reminds citizens that information submitted to Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous. Calls are routed to a third-party national call center that receives your information, completes a tips information form, and then passes the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Caller ID tracking is not utilized by Crime Stoppers and conversations are not recorded.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.
