New Starbucks in Champaign Planned

When the former church was cleared at the corner of Mattis and Springfield in Champaign, there was plenty of speculation about what would go there. Many said a CVS, but we now know what will be built on that corner.

According to this article by the News-Gazette’s Tom Kacich, Starbucks will be the lead tenant for what is being called Union Square. It will be a 12,000 square foot retail center with room for multiple tenants.

Ramshaw Real estate will be the developer. They tell the N-G that they expect construction to start in the spring and be completed by fall.

This Starbucks will join other CU locations on North Prospect, South Neil, 5th and Green in Campustown, and at Main and Vine in Urbana.
