Another hotel option is coming to downtown Champaign.

At the meeting last night, the Champaign City Council unanimously approved a new hotel on a city owned lot at the corner of Hill and Neil streets.

The hotel will be a Best Western Vib (vibe) brand hotel which is described by the company as a “a stylish urban boutique hotel concept designed for today’s connected traveler”

The hotel is designed for travelers who are younger and more connected technologically. The rooms will feature smart TV’s, pod style coffee makers, signature bath amenities, and more features designed for the younger demographic.

The building will have 126 rooms, with a rooftop bar and lounge, and a bar and coffee shop on the first floor. The hotel will also lease parking spots on the top level of the Hill Street parking deck.

Interestingly, there was a hotel on the site as early as 1855. There continued to be a hotel building there until 1967 when the Tilden Hall Hotel was torn down.
