With construction set to begin on the MCORE project, a major artery into Campustown has been closed.

Effective today, Green St. from the railroad viaduct to Fourth street in Champaign will be closed as construction begins on the $44 Million project that will transform the roadways and entrance to Campustown.

Traffic will also be affected by another portion of the project which will take place in Urbana between Lincoln Ave. and Wright street starting March 13th. The street will remain open, but with periodic lane closures.

Businesses in the area will remain open and accessible via detours.

MCORE aims to balance traffic with pedestrians, bicycles, and busses. The entire project is expected to be completed by December of 2019.

Find more information at the MCORE website.
