Changes Ahead for Sweetcorn Festival

The Urbana Sweetcorn festival is keeping it local this year.

Festival organizers say that they will not feature a headlining performer at this year’s event, instead choosing to focus on local talent. In years past, the festival has booked acts such as Smash Mouth last year.

They told WCIA 3 that they decided to focus on the talent that is on display in central Illinois.

The entertainment isn’t the only change. Organizers say that they are lowering costs for vendors, as well as making alcohol purchases easier. Patrons may now buy a Sweetcorn Festival cup and may purchase drinks from local business surrounding the festival.

The festival will kick off on Friday August 25th.
