Champaign hhgregg Location to Close

The Champaign location of hhgregg will close its doors,  after the company announced it was shuttering 88 locations and 3 distribution centers.

In a statement hhgregg’s President and CEO Robert J. Riesbeck said:

“We are strategically exiting markets and stores that are not financially profitable for us. This is a proactive decision to streamline our store footprint in the markets where we have been, and will continue to be, important to our customers, vendor partners and communities.

Inventory will be sold off over the coming weeks. The release says the expected closing dates of the stores will be complete by mid-April.

“I want to thank each and every manager and associate in our stores and distribution centers, and their families, for their continued efforts, contributions and support,” said Riesbeck. “I understand this is not an easy process to go through; our history has shown that our team members will meet this challenge head-on and continue to support our customers and each other through the closing process.”

Five other hhgregg locations in Illinois will close, including the Springfield location.

The store at 718 W. Town Center Blvd. has been open since 2012.
